Now that another season is behind us, a few thoughts.
Major league kudos to the Marketing & Ticket Sales Depts !!!! To have an increase in attendance last season & this season with a mediocre team, shows they're getting butts in the seats. I still find it quite telling this all happened last year when Bob Sack, the "marketing guru," resigned.
Call-ups were a part of their struggles, but it happens to EVERY team, so no excuses there. They did have a talent shortage, that being a Jim Nill/Bob McNamara "thing".
Coaching also played a role in their season. Many nites the Griffins were not prepared to play----- that is coaching, my friends. Standing around, watching in their own end, getting beat consistently to loose pucks. They often played dumb hockey. If you have a talent shortage, you work smarter, not just harder.
I am going to take up Bob Kaser's invitation to offer up my comments/praise/criticisms & suggestions, as I believe this group in the Marketing Dept. is much more accepting of suggestions than the last bunch. And I encourage you folks to do the same. Should be an interesting summer/fall. All for now...........
