I agree 5er, I also thought Rudkowsky played rather well when Stothers finally put him in - though I can't believe he would wait until Adam let by six goals before he pulled him. I personally would like to see more of Rudkowsky, he looked pretty damn good out there.
As for Bootland, other than the fact that he was a nice guy off the ice, I personally do not think he is that great of a hockey player. His brother, in my honest opinion, is the better player. But I guess everyone has their own opinions.

Yup, 5'er, it is true. Why do you think he's gone?

I guess I'm agreeing with most of you. Yeah, Bootland is not the "Next One" (by a long shot), but he is a solid AHL grinder.
And yeah, I gave him grief after the brain-dead slash against the Moose in the playoffs and commented that it probably ended his Red Wing (and sadly, Griffin) days.
But I also said that he was a great entertainment package while he was here and I'd gladly welcome him back also. I don't expect him to score 50 goals or 100 points, I just enjoyed watching him stir the pot. For my dollar, he was a great entertainer here.

Agreed, RW, he wasn't and will never be the greatest hockey player, but he was decent and better than many many players who have come thru GR. I enjoyed watching his exploits both off and on the ice. Geez, if I was 20-something, single and a pro athlete .....omg!
You must be 100% right, grudes & snickers, that's why Nick is toiling away for IHL dollars vs. NHL/AHL, must be cause he's soooo much better.

Exactly. I don't believe there is a person in this world (including Mr. Bootland himself) who will claim he is the next coming of Gretzky, but I haven't given up on him playing a few more NHL games in his life (he'd better have a few more left in him this year, or i've lost a bet ). Players come and go in and out of organizations, it does not necessarily mean that they have "worn out their welcome" only that it is a business and that it was best for one (or both) parties to end the relationship. In regards to Nick Bootland, from what I understand, he has chosen to sign and stay in Kalamazoo and the IHL for his family to have stability and stay in once place. That being said, he was never better than a 3rd or 4th line AHLer and has not seen a single game in the NHL. I've heard the Nick Bootland is better argument from a few people and in this case, I think the numbers speak for themselves.

5'er, I never said a word about Nick Bootland.
I spoke to someone in the "know", who shall remain nameless, (I don't like namedroppers, either) who said that DB did, in fact, wear out his welcome in the 2nd year.

Mr. Bootland was always a player who you either liked or disliked, no in betweens. I've heard people from within say negative things about him like you are saying and others stating quite the opposite. Fact remains, he was in the Red Wing system for 5 years. That's a lot more than many can say. If he "wore out his welcome" in year two, why would they keep him around for three more? Doubt they would. If an organization wants you gone, it's not that hard.

...If an organization wants you gone, it's not that hard. Agreed. See Sean Avery. Plus, timing is everything and in Booter's case, the RWs didn't work out for him. I mean, look at the Griffin alumni playing in the NHL now that Bootland was behind in the depth chart. He was just around during a time when the Wings were deep at forward prospects. Who would you switch with Bootland? Ellis? Hudler? Filpula? Kopecky? He's had his cup of coffee in the NHL, and I hope he gets a few more sips. But if not, I would sure enjoy him back in a Griffin sweater. I wonder if Bobby Mac would sign him to a Griffin contract?

Alright, so while I am in the "dislike Bootland" group, maybe I need to clarify it here. I don't think his brother is better than him, and he was a great "entertainer". I just hated how the other team could get into his head, and his game would suck for the rest of the night. That's where the slash came in, and countless other unnecessary penalties.

No argument from me either, coyote. That is the one personality trait that probably hurt him most with the Wings, I'm guessing.

AFTER ALL, IT'S JUST ABOUT ENTERTAINMENT ANYWAY, RIGHT? Coyote is right about getting in Booter's head though - once a team, (or player) did that - he was done for the night. All his "hockey sense" went right out the window, and he really made some DUMB plays. However, I don't think that the players, (in ANY league), that fill his type of role on a team, are much different - I too enjoyed watching Booter play here, and hope that we see him again at the Van someday - THINK OF IT - KEEFE VS. BOOTLAND

He's a fan pleasing, money maker. Signing him would be a sound business move.

WOAH hold on a hot second here..When have I EVER come on here stating that I think drew is the greatest player on Earth?..I'm not the one that comes on here and brags him up all the time..we are called Drews cheer section for a reason, a reason that I can't get into, but NOT because we think he is the greatest player on Earth..And I don't know who you THINK you heard harrassing that goalie because he wears #1 and yelling that he needs to prove himself worthy of wearing that number and telling him to change jerseys after he gave up 1 goal, but it certainly wasn't me or anybody with me for that matter..

Just to clarify----
I don't know the EXACT particulars, but the RW's wanted to keep him around (to fill McCarty's shoes/skates?). As I stated earlier, my info was obtained unsolicited by me from a completely reputable source inside the GRG. All I'm doing is repeating was what told to me. Don't shoot the messenger!!!
