A friend of mine found this and I thought i'd share: 27: Those fans that purchased their number 27 Jeremy Colliton jerseys last season are going to have to change that second digit as he has surrendered the number to newly acquired Darryl Bootland. Bootland explained that his favorite player his whole life has been Darryl Sittler who wore 27, so he has always done the same. Bootland even went as far as having the number tattooed on his left arm so he had to match it with the number 27 on the back of his jersey. "I spoke to Jeremy over the summer and asked him if he'd be willing to change," Bootland said. "He had no problem and was actually excited because he's going to change to his lucky number 21 from his junior days. I told him I'd take him out for a steak dinner but he said no. I'm still taking him though." On a side note, this year's #27 socialized with a few STH in TC yesterday. He was advised to reconsider taking the number. He was also informed of all of the duties intailed by taking that number: flirting with female fans, throwing pucks to kids, posing for all the cameras, fighting, taking stupid penalties at crucial points in the game, and perhaps most important, capturing the hearts of all the fans at Van Andel. It was quite an amusing conversation to witness.

The part I left out was that later one of Darryl's past teamates came out and when he was informed of the "new" 27 he said that no one could ever replace Booter. True statement... irreplaceable.

BS. NO one is irreplaceable, including me. Although I think I'd be tougher than Bootland.
Ok, Bootland is gone. Let's let him go and move on.

Actually, it has more to do with the name than the number. There have been other players in the Griffins organization that have worn the 27 with much different personalities. Most players chose a number for a specific reason, they wear the number for that reason not based on who wore it last!! It's time to say good-bye to Booter and move on .... Hello Corazzini!!
