MacIntyre healthy and ready to play
Slowly but surely, Drew MacIntyre is getting back to full strength. And for the record, his mask is clean and ready to go.
MacIntyre could laugh about it yesterday, but it wasn't necessarily funny at the time when the Manitoba Moose netminder came down with a serious bout of the flu during a game against the Toronto Marlies last Saturday.
"During that power play in the second period, I started throwing up during the play," said MacIntyre, who hopes to be between the pipes in one of the two games against the Iowa Stars this weekend. "I'm glad nobody saw it or caught it on video. Whenever I get sick, I've never been much of a thrower-upper, but I guess there's a first for everything."
MacIntyre wasn't feeling great when he got the rink last Saturday, but felt better after losing his pre-game meal near the zamboni entrance.
"As soon I got here, I told Flats to be ready and that I was going to play it by ear," he said. "I actually threw up and at that point, I thought I wouldn't be playing. But after I threw up, I felt better and that gave me my second wind."
Despite the early exit, MacIntyre got credit for his 18th victory of the season.

Drewby Drewby Drewby...
I know his stubborness and desire to play was strong but when you're blowing chunks on a PP trying to make the save....um...maybe you shouldn't have been playing in the first place. But then with Drew, trying to keep him out of the net is like trying to keep a fish out of water.

Back then if you blew chunks in your mask you looked like a play-do dispenser! LMAO Brian

Somone is gettin' their ass handed to them when they come to GR in a few weeks. I mean, I know Drewby loves to play and hell he's doing a great job (for a goalie that supposidly sucks) BUT there are times when you hang on to the net and make them drag your ass out of it...and then there are times you concede death isn't worth it...
