Oh, come on Whispers... you're going to ask and not provide yours? I think it's still too early to tell how the new players play. I will say that i'm making a conscious effort to cheer for Ouhlahen, as I think he's a work-horse with good work ethic and team focus... much like Mattie, yet often goes under the radar. So i'm trying to appreciate him more vocally. In the words of a friend "Rah Rah Ouhli."

It's definitely too soon for me to say. Probably, as soon as someone starts moving their feet and playing some D in their own end, or possibly beats an opponent to a loose puck, or maybe comes out of the corner with the puck on his stick, maybe THEN I'll have a favorite.
But right now, they haven't shown me much to rave about. Don't get me wrong. They're still my team, but I have been severely under whelmed by their performance thus far.

Gotta go with the crowd here, way to early pick someone out of the crowd. There's a couple of guys that have potential but as a whole this group has been unimpressive. I think it's the Hockey News jinx at work.

RedWings, I too, have been underwhelmed by this bunch. Having said that, I will go out on a limb and say Mark Hartigan has impressed me the most, relatively speaking.

Not a bad pick, Snickers.
And it's not that I think we don't have the talent, but no one's been getting after it. When you look at a dozen to a dozen and a half penalties in a game, you start to wonder. It's one thing if these were slashes, cross checks, fighting majors... those can be heat of the moment kind of plays.
But the Griffs are getting whistled all night long for the clutching and grabbing, interference kind of nonsense. All that tells me is that they are playing lazy. They are not moving their feet. They are not skating to keep up with their opponents and take the puck away. Instead, they are grabbing on, putting a little stick on 'em to slow 'em down, you know, that cheap sloppy stuff that a tired or lazy team does.
I can't believe they are that tired this early in the season with somewhat limited travel thus far. So my only other thought is, they've got some kind of group lazy funk going on that they need to break out of. Or Stothers needs to light a fire or bench some folks to get their attention and get 'em motivated.
For a team with no exhibition games, it's still pretty early in the season. But you sure hate to look back in April and see all the points you didn't get in October. That can come back to haunt ya.
