Darryl Bootland was called up to the Wings today to replace Homer while he's out. Congrats to Darryl...It'll be so awesome to have him and Ellis in the NHL together. Another blow to the Griffins though but not one I can seem to be overly upset about.

I'm so happy for him. He's been playing really well of late and its good to see he's one of our top goal scorers. Its nice to see Darryl get to the show again. Now all he needs to do is keep showing why he got back up there in the first place...Smart hockey.

All the power to Bootland, and I hope he gets it done in the NHL. But I'm not sure how much of this was based on Bootlands play, and how much was just because he's one of the very few left in GR. Who else could match Homers style of play, even alittle bit?
My big question is will he have to clear waivers again when he gets sent back down? Or because of it being after the trade deadline, the wings dont have to worry? But then again, he did clear waivers at the start of the season....

From my understanding coyote, he doesn't have to clear waivers a.) because he cleared them at the beginning of the season and b.) because he's being called up to fill in for an injured player. Your thinking is probably right on why he was called up...Sure hope he uses it to make an impact though...Wouldn't be the first player brought up on a team who surprised them. Good luck to Darryl.

Here's kind of a funny blurb from Ted Kulfan in the Detroit News today. Classic Babcock:
Griffins influence
With his appearance Tuesday, Darryl Bootland became the fourth Grand Rapids Griffins forward in the Wings lineup.
He was recalled Monday to replace Tomas Holmstrom (injury to upper body).
"I have to go out there and throw the body around, and be as physical as I can," Bootland said. "I'll stick to my game and crash and bang as much as I can."
Bootland joined Griffins Josh Langfeld , Matt Hussey and Matt Ellis in the lineup.
"(Bootland's) a physical guy, and it's a really simple game for him, and we'll make it real clear," Babcock said.
"Get the puck out of the zone, get the puck into their zone, run (over) their guys, and get off the ice fast. Then do it again."

Here's a pic of some of our Griffins up there, sitting on the bench...Really nice shot. Excellent shot. They sure look good in red.

Well Hussey got sent down, but Bootland stayed up. So I guess that means that the Wings somewhat like him. I hope he can keep it up.
