You know what, I take back every thing I ever said about Bob when he ran this committee. Griffins fans are the absolute pits when it comes to going to see their team on the road. There is a group of maybe 10-14 fans that show up on the road several times a season, outside of the those folks even the hardcore fans suck at road support. When you can't get 40 fans on a bus to Cleveland, Hamilton, Toronto or Milwaukee say 6 times a year, you just suck at team support.

Those are the ones I'm talking about here, 'yote. You would think you could 30-40 of those 3400 diehard fans on a bus to cheer on the Griffins in a foreign arena a couple of times a year. The only bus trip that will go this year, as always, is the Chicago one. Only God knows why, the arena is the worst in the league, their fans are the 2nd rudest, etc.
I don't know, there is just something wrong with this.

Well, I guess I'll be driving to Milwaukee on 12/2 then - I've already got my tickets (right behind the GRIFFS bench) IT IS A DAMN SHAME THAT WE CAN'T GET ENOUGHT "LOYAL" FANS to make these happen. It always makes me envious when I see the buses outside the arena bringing in the opposition supporters What more can fans in GR want - we have the PRIMARY affiliation with one of the BEST franchises in the NHL - constantly turn out NHL caliber players and provide some great entertainment for so little $ - BUT, oh yeah, this is W. Michigan isn't it? (Spoken as a native Detroiter)

The only thing I can say is that the bus strips end up being more expensive than getting a car load of your friends together and going (or at least being told the $ amount right up front makes it seem like it does). I know it's no fault of the people organizing it... a bus costs money, tickets cost money, etc. But... i'm taking my road trips so bus or no bus, i'll be in Chicago and Rochester/Syracuse this year... potentially Cleveland if i'm not in NYC. I'm sure i'll see some of you there.

Speaking as somebody who has spent time in and out of the BC. I have always thought that the BC trips were way too expensive for what we were getting.
It seems that every trip would take way longer to get to than it had to. We had to stop at EVERY rest area so people could smoke, use the restroom (hey there's one on the bus... USE IT). We would get to the arena about 30 minutes before the gates opened. So there wasn't any time to go eat before hand, shop or anything. we just got into the arena watched the game and left back home. There was nothing about going on the bus other than not having to drive that made spending the 75 bucks worth it... The BC hasn't been able to pull off many road trips (if any) since I left the club and that was 3 or 4 years ago, and even before that they had a hard time then.
The BC has never done a good job of advertising that they have these trips. You only know if you walk by and LOOK at the table. There is a good number of us who when they get to the top of the stairs stay on the east side of the arena. The BC has got to do a better job of letting fans know that there is a BC for one and there are trips available. The arena has four brand new displays above Center Ice, why not have them advertise on the board during the game and have an announcment made. If they make the announcement late in the first period, then people will remember that.
I have also thought that the BC is in a very bad location on the arena concourse. There are too many people pushing things, Kodiak construction and the like come to mind. I hate being attacked every single game by these teenage bimbos. The BC table is too close to the other sales booths for people to want to stop by in fear of having to listen to a sales pitch. The best place for the BC is on the top of the stairs across the elevator around 104-102, most people pass that section either when coming up the stairs or going downstairs to smoke or something.
I also think that it's a mistake that the table is not manned during the second intermission. After two full periods of stuffing their face and drinking, a few more people might be heading to the restrooms and then back for more food to stuff and beer and pop to drink. Why be available for fans. for only two-thirds of the time.

Please..... If you do nothing to help... do not critize those who do!
I personally have been on 2 bus trips that the Booster Club has organized.. And they were great! The Best part-- I did not have to drive! I am more than happy to pay a few bucks more for the convience to have someone else shoulder that resposibility. Thank You Girls for all of your hardwork and time in organizing these trips!

Thank You Girls for all of your hardwork and time in organizing these trips! I couldn't agree with you more, whispers. Those of you who think you can do a better job of organzing and advertising a road trip should contact Kathy and Jan and offer your assistance. While you're at it, why don't you do something about the fluxuating cost of gas/diesel as I'm sure this has a lot to do with cost of these trips. By the way, I'd love to know how much you think a road trip (bus ride and a ticket to the game) to Chicago, Milwaukee or Cleveland should cost per person. SJRADIO...........seems like you are all talk and no action! You hide behind these fan boards...........step up to the BC table, pay your membership dues and get involved. Think you can do better ............prove it! Join the BC, attend meetings, join committees and run for an office. If you were a MEMBER of the BC (I am), you would recieve the road trip information in the monthly newsletter. You would also know they have a website that contains this information plus a lot more. Have you even looked at a Griffiti or are you off stuffing your face and drinking? If you had, you would have noticed that the BC has a full page ad about who they are and what they do. This ad ran all of last season and is once again in the Griffiti this season. Do you pay attention to the annoucements made inside the Arena during a game or are you one of those people off stuffing your face and drinking? If you had, you would have heard about planned road trips and where to get the information. Do you listen to Kaser's radio broadcast or have you stepped away from your radio to stuff your face and drink? If you had been listening, you would hear Bob talk about the BC and road trips. I guess since the BC isn't PERSONALLY contacting YOU (a non-BC member at that) with the information, than they must be doing a terrible job. As Whispers said.............."If you do nothing to help... do not critize those who do!"

That's sj for ya! Complaints, but no real substance. doesn't like spongebob, doesn't like the road trips, I'm surprised you stll show for a game or two @ the Van. Maybe you need to rejoin to club so that it can pull off one of these trips. Seeing how that was the only substantative thing in your entire post.

As Whispers said.............."If you do nothing to help... do not critize those who do!" Before anyone jumps down my throat for criticizing the BC and yes, I am going to criticize them, I am going to explain myself. Up until last year, I was a member of the BC. Now, the main thing I am going to criticize is the road trips. First of all, I agree, they are not advertised well enough. We have a three big screens in the arena - one at the end of the ice and one at each of the Comcast Cyber Cafe areas at the end of the arena, not to mention a whole slew of TVs at each of the food booths throughout the arena. Those are used to advertise other things, so why not advertise Road Trips on those? It would work well for when fans are out getting food or drinks before the game or during intermission if the road trips were advertised on the TVs. Secondly, a little piece of paper at the BC table, in my opinion, is not good enough. Especially printed on dark red paper as I saw the other night - perhaps if it was printed on white paper it would be easier to read for one (dark colors with black writing are hard on the eyes). Third of all, we have a PA system that is used to advertise different things throughout the game. There were a couple times last season that road trips were announced over the PA system. That might also work to get more fan interest. I also agree with SJradio - the road trips are just way too expensive for the average person to pay for and be able to go on. 139.00 to go to Cleveland for an overnighter in my opinion is a bit much, considering when we all went to Toronto a couple years ago we got the entire trip for 99 dollars. Perhaps if the prices were lowered a bit and as SJradio said, we got more on the trips for the price, then more people would be interested. But people just cannot afford to pay that much per person to go on a bus trip - in all honesty, Crazy is right, it would be cheaper to get a group of friends together and drive than to pay those prices. I was looking at the ad for the trips the other day and I happened to think that the regulations set were a bit strict and also a bit rude. But that is only one person's opinion.

grudes, your points are no better than sj's. First, the only reason a road trip with a group of friends vs. the BC is that one of your group can get the room, etc on a discount site like Orbitz, Priceline, etc. If you don't that, your trip is just as expensive. The cost of gas is the cost of gas, as it is with food tickets, etc. So, the price is not at all out of line in my opinion. Second, most of the so-called ads spots cost and quite frankly, I don't believe it's in the best interests of the BC to pay for something like that, at least not until the trips become a regular thing. As for the Toronto trip, If you paid 99 bucks, then I got the big ol' shaft cause I paid damn near $200 for the bus, hotel and game tickets, so I think you recall is off on that deal. But you know I don't care, cause I had one hell-of-a-time on that bus. So like I said, I rescind my criticism of Bob the past several years and place the blame directly on the fans of the Griffins, hardcore they are not.
