He received a call from Ken Holland, GM of the parent Detroit Red Wings, after Greg Ireland was fired in June. An interview with Holland, Grand Rapids GM Bob McNamara and Red Wings assistant GM Jim Nill went exceedingly well. So well, Stothers said, that he was offered the job immediately after the interview. "They asked if I wanted time to think about it or to talk to my wife [Judy]," Stothers said. "I said, 'If you guys are asking, I'm saying yes.' "The opportunity with a quality organization like that made it easy to say yes. It seemed like the right time and right opportunity."

I'm looking forward to seeing some fresh blood behind the bench as well as on the ice.
Don't get me wrong, I like GI but for some reason the team just didn't gel last season. You could see it in their eyes and in their play.
I think with his combination of NHL and AHL experience Stothers was a good choice. Why keep looking if you've found the guy you want? I don't have any problems with it.
