Here's a nice little Homer blog by Bill Clement. Five already and he's had one disallowed.
This “Mutt” Will Score 40 Monday @ 8:57 AM ET
His game is never pretty and he certainly wouldn’t make it as a model. In a skating race he would be the guy in the rearview mirror and nobody would ever pick him to represent the team in the “hardest shot” competition. He’s the mutt at the dog show and will never win a red ribbon.
Not to worry. He wears enough red as it is and his ugly goals are works of art to Red Wings’ fans. He’s Tomas Holmstrom and he’s going to have another career year. Coming out of the lockout he tallied 29 goals. Last season he topped that with 30. He’s got 5 already this season and will hit the 40 mark. Bet it!
At age 34 how can a player be poised to have his third consecutive career year? There are three main factors. One is the confidence Detroit coach Mike Babcock has in him. It’s really hard to produce if you know your coach doesn’t truly believe in you. The converse is also true. Coming out of the lockout Babcock and Holmstrom hit it off immediately.
The second is the gravy ice time Holmstrom gets. For years he had to share ice time with a cast of Hall of Famers. Now Stevie Y is gone, as are Shanny, Hully, Sergei…
The third factor? The playmaking of Datsyuk and Zetterberg. Holmstrom is being fed on the PP by two of the top 5 set-up men in the NHL.
Bet it! Homer scores 40.

That's IF the refs don't take his ice time away (like they did Monday night) - What an unbelievable game when it came down to the refereeing - It's been some time since I've seen them call so many unnecessary penalties - and then, let ones go that should have been called) - AGREE or DISAGREE anyone?

Oh, I agree 100 per-fricken-cent!!!! Thank you for bringing it up. I thought Daniels and Murphy should have commented a heck of a lot more regarding that. If Mickey would have been there, we'd certainly have heard a LOT more about it. Holmstrom called it a "freak show". Pinhead Pronger was pulling his usual state of the art cheap crap all night long and everytime Homer responded in kind, he got whistled. Pronger has a history of losing his composure against Holmstrom, and did again Monday night, but didn't get the calls. Do you think maybe the NHL makes some allowances for defending Stanley Cup Champs? Or was is simply that referees Gord Dwyer and Tom Kowal (who the hell are these guys) are waaaaaay to inexperienced to handle a matchup pitting two of the leagues best, and including the leagues dirtiest team? I think it was the relative inexperience of Dwyer (96 games) and Kowal (321 games). They were horrendous. Babcock was talking at them (not yelling at them) between periods but it sure did not seem to make a difference. The calls were equally lousy in all three periods. Plus, we had another disallowed goal, the third one so far this season, on another phantom call. Absolutely ridiculous. We'll have to keep our eyes peeled for Dwyer and Kowal. Thankfully, I can't imagine either of them qualifying for the playoffs. What a Buttman joke.
