Drew's first game is NOT the point here. But I'm sure that would have been deduced eventually. I understand his game is going the right way and I believe I have acknowledged that....more than once.
As far as Howard is concerned, where did you get the idea that anyone thought he was going anywhere.

I'm gonna go with Brian's feelings on this one being that he is an ex goalie and has played the position. He's got insite into what it takes to play the game at a level as high as this. Plus he could have been a beaver...bit it off...o-f-f-...Hehehe!!!

Take a breath, Linz. I usually support your point of view but I think it was pretty obvious this time that 5Hole was strictly tongue in cheek. Any goalie that turns in a 1 goal, 38 save performance has put in a great night's work. Even cujoke, eh, 5'er (wink). Now let's play nice. Btw, why say it's sarcasm, when everybody knows that you really mean it!!! JK. LOL! (Sorry, Linz, but that was kinda funny)

No he wasn't an AHL goalie but unlike most of us here he's actually played the position longer than most of us have been alive so I think he knows what it takes to play the position. I agree Linz's wording about some things can be alittle bit misleading at times but she means well in letting us know how Drew's doing. I also agree with RedWings, jokes have to be taken more in the spirit they are meant and not as being serious.

GW, (no offense intended to griffan intended) so according to your logic because I played QB in rocket league football 40+ years ago, I am uniquely qualified to give my view on what it takes to play in the Super Bowl right? And I'm not exactly sure how old Brian is, but that statement in completely inane.

Why does everyone always think I'm so upset when I post things? Oh well, you may think what you want, and I'll think what I want. I'll just continue to enjoy watching my team, as you all do your's, and you won't have to worry about my 'misleading' words any longer on this subject.

I can understand your thinking 5Hole about the playing a position thing but what I meant more was you know what it takes to play that particular position. I guess I just didn't make that clear enough.
Linz the majority of us do enjoy reading your reviews on the games because as I've said before we don't get to watch or follow up on Drew in the ECHL. I hope you'll continue giving us your reports.

I suggest you get back on topic, and quit fighting before I start locking or deleting posts, or suspending some people from the board.

Geez ... everyone take a chill pill.
I'll be more than happy to answer 5-Hole's questions.
I played goal since I was 4 years old. I'm 43 now and had to stop playing due to a severe knee injury when I was 32. That equates to 28 years of actually playing the position.
I played youth hockey, high school, Juniors in the New England area. My senior year I was offered a chance to go to Sherbrooke in the QMJHL and try out for the team there. I turned it down because I wanted to get my diploma from my high school. (At the time there was another goalie in Sherbrooke, Corrado Micalef. He was a Redwings draft pick.) After high school I played in some elite leagues which had players who were cuts from local Div 1 and 2 schools. UNH, BU, BC etc. There were also some ex-AHL players in that league. I played summers in MA which is where I played against similar talent but with the added addition of some NHL players who stayed/lived in the area. Bobby Carpenter, Bob Gould, Rod Langway, Cam Neely, Ken Linseman, Rick Middleton, Tom Barrasso to name a few. I learned a lot from these guys. I learned what the offensive players look for when they see a goalie play. The little habits that they can exploit. It's amazing what an NHL caliber shooter can do when you give them an opening. It's also an eye opening and humbling experience when you face these guys. I also learned what the NHL scouts look for when scouting a goalie. I learned, in greater detail, what to look for in a shooter from a goalie's standpoint.
I also attended several camps for goalies run by Cap Raeder and attended several coaching seminars when I coached youth hockey.
Just because you play or played the game does not mean you know all there is to know about the sport. I know of several people who never played the game but have become excellent coaches and are very knowledgable about the game.
I just want to make it clear that I don't take offense to anything posted here. I respect everyone's opinions and realize that not everyone will agree but that is what makes these boards so interesting. I like the difference of opinions. It keeps the debate fresh. If everyone agreed all the time it would be boring and there'd be no point to it.

By the way, I think I've commented before on the old boards about the players you've had the pleasure of playing with/against. I think Napolean said it best..."LUCKEE".

I understand completely 5-Hole. I never took it as a slight in any way, shape or form. I respect your opinions as well and will continue to do so. I don't see why anyone would make a big deal out of this discussion. I didn't see anything that I felt was out of line. Maybe I have my "sensitivity button" turned off? LOL Redwings ... Yeah, I was very lucky to have had the opportunity to play with and against that caliber of player. It's "definitely" a huge reality check, "fer sher". Brian
